THE MOON

  • The moon orbits around the Earth in 27.3 Earth days.
  • The moon average distance from Earth is 384,400 miles away.
  • The moon is 4.5 billion years old.
  • The moon has no atmosphere or magnetic field.
  • Rocks on the moon seem to be 3 billion years old.

METEORIODS

  • Also know as falling stars
  • Most meteoroids come from the asteroid belt
  • They orbit the sun and planets along In the Milky Way
  • 3 types of meteoroids , iron is the fastest at falling but the heaviest
  • Meteoroids orbit the planets to stop them from crashing into others

SATELLITES

  • Satellites telescopes gather a huge amount of data
  • Satellites accumulates data and transmits it to Earth
  • The satellites antenna helps find data and transmits it also
  • If the position isn't right the satellite can lose contact with Earth
  • The 3 most important satellites are weather, navigation, and astronomy
