Mexico's absolute location is 23°N, 102°W. The relative location is: below the US, above South America, and borders the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
There are many interesting physical features in Mexico, like: the Sierra Madre Oriental & Occidental; two big mountain ranges. Also, there is the Yucatan Peninsula, which borders Guatemala and Belize, The Baja California Peninsula, and several volcanoes.
There are also features that have been made by humans, like the Mayan and Aztec ruins. Also, there's an "ancient" city in Mexico called Teotihuacan, with many pyramids. It even has the third biggest pyramid in the world: the pyramid of the sun.
There is a lot of pollution and litter in Mexico, like in beaches where people are eating food and selling things; but there is also a lot of good human/environment interactions, like farming. There is a lot of farming and mining.
Mexico is in the North American region. Part of it is desert and the other parts are tropical. The main language is Spanish, and it has the largest Spanish-speaking population in the world.
Mexico's government is similar to the U.S.'s government; it has three branches: executive, legislative, judicial. The president right now is Enrique Peña Nieto, and a new president is elected every six years. Their government type is federal republic and their constitution has been amended many times.
A lot of people make their money by selling food and beverages, and you can see that by just walking down the streets; there are many food stands. They also have a lot tobacco, chemicals, iron, steel, motor vehicles, and clothing. There are many little stores on the streets, with people usually selling food, drinks, jewelry, and/or clothes. Also, there's a lot of mining, farming, and tourism.
Over 90% of the population in Mexico is literate, and they're expected to go to school for 13 years. Their grading system is 1-10, 1 being the worst, 10 the best. They take a big exam at the end of every year, and are required to get at least a 6 to continue to the next grade level. Some schools are very strict about being hygienic, but many are more laid back.
It is extremely important to respect adults, but schools can be laid back in ways, like for example, raising your hand wouldn't be very important in class. Many kids don't get past, or even to high school, because they'd have to start buying their books, which many families can't afford. They're only required to go to at least 6th grade.
Most families are too poor, so the kids have to drop out of school and start working. 5% of the population has child labor. That's 1,105,617 kids. 80% of adults in Mexico haven't received a high school diploma.
Usually, Mexican families are large. They usually have three or more children, and it's not common for couples to get divorced in Mexico. The man is kind of the leader of the family, and he goes to work while the woman stays home and takes care of domestic things like cooking and cleaning.
A couple of holidays celebrated in Mexico are Cinco de Mayo, and Dia de los Muertos. Cinco de Mayo means "fifth of May," and on this day, they celebrate when Mexico beat the French and got to keep the state, Puebla. The way it's usually celebrated is a day off of work and school, parties with lots of food, and in many cases there is beer.
Dia de los Muertos means "day of the dead" and is celebrated from November 1st to November 2nd. On these days, people visit the cemetery and dedicate these days to loved ones that've passed away.
The most popular religion in Mexico is Roman Catholic. 82.7% of the population is Roman Catholic, and 1.4% is Jehovah's Witness. On December 12th, a big religious holiday celebrated is Dia de Nuestra Señora Guadalupe. It's a day where the Roman Catholics have big parties and celebrate the Virgin Mary.
A lot of Mexico is poor, and half the population is in poverty, but some people do have computers and tablets. Some people own cars, but most people walk, ride the bus, or a taxi. Also, many aircraft parts are made in Mexico.
One big problem in Mexico right now is that there are many drug dealers which makes the citizens feel in danger. Another problem is education. "For every 10 Mexicans, 1 has a chance of graduating." Also, there is poverty. Many people can't even have at least 2 meals a day, and children are suffering from malnutrition.
