Michelle Rhee is an American educator and an advocate for education reform.

Background

  • Born: December 25, 1969
  • educated: Cornell University, Harvard University, and more
  • Organizations: StudentsFirst, The New Teacher Project
  • Rhee began her career in an inner city school in Baltimore, MD

Michelle Rhee was a chancellor of the Washington, DC public schools from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, she founded StudentFirst, a non-profit organization that works on education reform.

Organizations

  • StudentFirst: this organization was created by Rhee to reform education. It had 1 million members and raised 1 billion dollars on behalf of American education.
  • The New Teacher Project: this organization was founded and ran by Rhee. it was recruited 10 years later ad trained more than 23,000 new teachers to work in urban schools. Rhee instituted merit pay for teachers, fought for art and music classes, and championed charter schools.

I honestly love what Michelle Rhee did. I would have did the same actually. She raised money and did all she should to reform education. She inspires me as a person to become better in life and helping others.
