Magna Carta

  • The Magna Carta was signed in June 1215 between the barons of Medieval England and King John. '
  • this also means“Great Charter”
  • it was one of the most important documents in this time
  • the barons demanded king john to sign the magna carta
  • document of rights
  • king could no collect taxes with out permission

Feudalism

  • the dominant social system in medieval Europe, in which the nobility held lands from the Crown in exchange for military service, and vassals were in turn tenants of the nobles,
  • Feudalism was the medieval model of government predating the birth of the modern nation-state.
  • Feudal society is a military hierarchy in which a ruler or lord offers mounted fighters a fief medieval beneficium
  • a peasant or worker known as a vassal received a piece of land in return for serving a lord or king,

manorialism

  • also called manorial system, seignorialism, or seignorial system, political, economic,
  • social system by which the peasants of medieval Europe were rendered dependent on their land and on their lord.
  • during this time it was very important to own land even if you had millions of dollars
  • Feudalism describes the relationship between the king and his nobles in mediaeval Europe. Manorialism describes the relationship between a noble and his peasants in mediaeval Europe.

Grand Jury

  • The grand jury usually either absolves the suspect or charges him criminally.
  • grand jury originated in medieval England; it was in use by the reign of Henry III (1216–72).
  • also has 12-23 people who,in private hear evidence presented by the gov. to determine whether people shall be required to stand trail if the jury believes the crime was committed

Trial Jury

  • Before Charlemagne, the Frankish court system used a system called trial by ordeal
  • this is where people could be accused of crime
  • In 1215, the tenants-in-chief secured Magna Carta from King John, which established that the king may not levy or collect any taxes
  • also known as petit jury
  • see if the person is guilty or not
