Royal- NY and NJ. Royal colonies were ruled or

Propriety- PA and DE. Propriety colonies granted by the English crown
to 1 or more proprietors who had full governing rights

Settlers came from England, Netherlands, and Sweden
They came to New York for the harbor. They came for natural resources, too.
People came to practice relgion freely exept New York. Also for business.
There was no religion that dominated, but some others were
Quaker, Catholics, Jews, Lutherans,and Presbyterians.

A successful and diverse economy.Largly agricultural.
Farms in region grew many crops like grain and oats.
They had major shipping hubs, craftmen, blacksmiths, silversmiths,

INTERESTING FACTS
William Penn was granted land that became PA in 1682.
William Penn pesuaded the Duke of York to lease western shore of DE bay.
The middle colonies were known as the " Breadbasket Colonies"
Because of their large amounts of barley, wheat, oats, and rye!
