THE PROBLEM WITH BREAKING THE CYCLE

  • With all these health risks raging, many migrant families can not afford treatment
  • With no treatment leads to the possibility of having to stop working
  • Without the income of a parent, means more pressure is put on the child to help out
  • With more time in the fields and less time in schools, it makes it very difficult to break the cycle

WAYS TO BREAK THE CYCLE

  • Make sure all safety precautions are taken when working in the fields
  • Wear protective gloves+masks/apparel when dealing with chemicals
  • Have plenty of fluids available in hot temperatures
  • Try to create a schedule where migrant children can still work if needed, but will remain in school

With the constant movement of migrants, it's difficult for them to maintain access to any primary care. And most of them cannot afford insurance already.

There are a few Migrant Health Care Centers that are available throughout the U.S. through the Migrant Health Act.
