The difference between rocks and minerals is that a mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic chemical composition and a crystalline structure formed by geological processes
A rock is an aggregate of one or more minerals and it may also include organic remains and mineroids.
Some rocks are predominantly composed of just one mineral
Minerals come in many different shapes and sizes
They can be spiky or smooth or both.
A mineral is a solid inorganic substance of natural occurrences
A mineral possesses a characteristic internal atomic structure and a definite chemical composition.
If we take the definition of a mineral term by term it becomes easier to understand. Minerals occur naturally
A mineral is broadly speaking a solid chemical that accurate naturally in pure form a rock may consist of a single mineral
Or may be an aggregate of two different minerals spacially separated into distinct phases.
