-The state butterfly was proposed by a fourth grade class at Anderson Elementary School
-The state drink has promotional value to the American Dairy Association
-The state bird was also proposed to be the Eastern Goldfinch, the mourning dove, the pileated woodpecker, the scarlet tanager, and the wood duck
-The state song was originally written for a college play for the University of Minnesota
