everything within the frame of the camera.

stuff we might see.. props, costumes, hair, makeup, lighting, special effects, a performace.

1. mise en scene used in film bedrooms

bedrooms in film can be used to tell us about the personality of the charcter

a messy bedroom could indicate a complicated character whereas a tidy bedroom could indicate a well kept, strict person.

mise en scene is used to communicate information.

for example colour can be used to reflect the emotion of the scene.

suspiria (1977)

or a costume could reflect a characters personality.

ghost world (2001)

the way actors are placed can represent something more than just for visual purposes.

mise en scene can be used to set the scene and give us background information

props are also a big part of our understanding of a character.
