WHY I CHOSE MARS?

  • The temperature is on mars is the closest to earths.
  • Its atmosphere is not too thick or thin to enter.
  • The planet isn't to far to travel to.
  • The surface of mars is rocky so it is possible to land on.

CRITERIA OF MY SPACESHIP

  • The spaceship needs to fly to mars safetly.
  • It needs to be able to be able to land safetly
  • The spaceship can't be to big.
  • The spaceship needs to be resistant to cold temperatures.

SPACECRAFT PROTOTYPE 1

  • Fuel/engine
  • Years of oxygen
  • Communication system
  • Beds
  • Food and water

SPACECAFT PROTOTYPE 2

  • Oxygen, food and water
  • Airlock
  • Air conditioning
  • Fuel

In my final spaceship I only have fuel, an engine, a rover, and a parachute. I made this changes because we still do not have the technology to send humans to mars we can only send rovers.

PARACHUTES

  • To slow down in landing.
  • A canopy
  • Suspension line
  • The load

TEST MY GROUP CONDUCTED

  • Controls: suspension lines and canopy material
  • Variable: canopy size
  • We found out that the biggest canopy was the slowest.

FINAL PARACHUTE

  • 18 inch diameter canopy
  • 12 inch suspension lines
  • Double coated canopy

WHAT I LEARNED ALONG THE WAY

  • We are still a long time away from humans going to mars.
  • There is a packing score for the parachute.
  • Long suspension lines make parachutes fall slower
