Mixed Economy Meaning:
A market-based economic system in which the government is involved to some extent

Terms associated w/ M.E.

  • Laissez Faire- prevention of government intervention w/ economyh
  • Private Property- land owned by individuals or corp. and not by the government or the people as a whole

BENEFITS OF M.E.

  • Government supplies some needs in order to assure that all members of society can benefit.
  • They also protect our property rights with the fifth & fourteenth amendment. "No one shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property.'

Presently most modern economies are mixed economies with free market.


The term was coined by the UK government in the 30's. Naturally there were people against this movement as there are today.
