Location

  • The Mohawk Indians lived where New York is today.
  • Many wre forced onto a reservation near canada.
  • Some of them fled into canada after the America Revolution.

Daily life

  • In a tribe, everyone has something that they have to do.
  • The men were in charge of hunting, trading, and war.
  • The women were in charge of farming, property, and family.
  • The children had chores to do before they could play.

Transportation

  • The Mohawk used two types of canoes to traval places.
  • One was made of elm bark, making it light and fast.
  • The other was dug out of a hollow log, making it long and sturdy, it was able to carry many people.

Clothes

  • Mohak men wore breech clothes with leggings.
  • Mohawk women wore wrap around skirts with shorter leggings.
  • They also usually wore moccasins on their feet.

Food

  • The Mohawk mainly had foods such as corn, beans, meats, berries, ect.
  • The women would usually plant crops such as corn and squash.
  • The Mohawk men usually hunt deer, elk, and fish.

Housing

  • The Mohawk Indians had big houses they were usually called longhouses.
  • longhouses could hold a few family's and had some storage space for food and other things.
  • The longhouses were about a hundred feet long.

Cultural Practices

  • Story telling was very important to my tibe's culture because it reminded us about how we got there and who sent us there.
  • we worshipped many gods but we worshipped only a few gods very strongly.

Extra Information

  • We Mohawk girls liked to play with cornhusk dolls but the boys liked to play a game where you throw a dart through a moving hoop.
