PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Moments vs patterns

A haiku deck lecture

A Vivid Moment:
- Focused on a single or limited space, thing, or person

A Vivid Moment:
- Purpose? To provide realistic details that make the subject more real and distinct

A Pattern:
- two or more moments that share a quality, feeling or synonymous language

A Pattern:
- Purpose? To provide opportunities for a reader to make meaning with the author

Pattern FAQ:
Does it matter if the author intended that pattern?
- No. He/she/they provided the "dots," we can connect them.

Pattern FAQ:
Can a reader make a pattern out of anything?
Technically, yes, but some patterns are less convincing or illuminating than others.
