Monster Energy is an energy drink introduced by Hansen Natural Corp, a multinational company based in the USA

COMPANY OVERVIEW

  • Monster Energy was first introduced in April of 2002 by Hansen Natural Corp. This company was set up by Hubert Hansen and his 3 sons in the 1930's, selling fruit juices
  • Business was profitable but modest by 1992, when its current CEO Rodney Sacks bought the company for $14.5 million.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

  • Then, in 2002, Hansen’s created a Monster. The company’s revenue from drink products skyrocketed from $50 million in 2003 to $1.7 billion in 2011, according to an October analyst report from Morningstar.
  • The jump was all thanks to Monster, causing Hansen Natural to change its name to Monster Energy.

ENDORSEMENTS

  • On January 6, 2012, the Monster Energy Monster Jam truck was debuted in Birmingham, Alabama. It is currently campaigned by drivers Damon Bradshaw and Coty Saucier. Monster Energy is the title sponsor of the French motorcycle Grand Prix since 2010 Since 2012, Monster Energy has been the main sponsor of the Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup

ENDORSEMENTS

  • Monster Energy broke into eSports with their sponsorship of Evil Geniuses, one of the premiere North American multi-gaming organizations. Monster Energy also sponsoring the professional eSports team; such as, Team EnVyUs, and Fnatic.

  • The company is also known for supporting many extreme sports events such as UFC, BMX, Motocross, Speedway, skateboarding and snowboarding, as well as eSports. In addition, Monster Energy promotes a number of bands around the world, like Asking Alexandria, The Word Alive, Maximum the Hormone and Five Finger Death Punch.


Monster energys' main ingredients include: carbonated water, sucrose, glucose, taurine, caffeine, L-Carnitine, natural flavourings and many others such as panax ginseng root, benzoic acid, maltodextrin, citric acid, glucuronolactone, niacinamide and guarana seed extract.

The caffeine content of most Monster Energy drinks is approximately 10 mg/oz or 160 mg for a 16 oz can.
The packaging usually contains a warning label advising consumers against drinking more than 48 oz per day.
Europe does not have these warning labels.
The drinks are not recommended for pregnant women or people sensitive to caffeine.

INGREDIENTS

  • Taurine is an amino acid commonly found in energy drinks as it is believed that it lessens muscle soreness often associated with sleep deprivation and can improve endurance.
  • Caffeine is a stimulant usually found in coffee, tea and energy drinks. It is known to restore mental awareness and improve cognitive function.

  • Caffeine is one of the most commonly consumed alkaloids worldwide in the form of coffee, tea, or soft drinks, and in high doses may cause abnormal stimulation of the nervous system as well as adverse effects in the cardiovascular,hematologic, and gastrointestinal systems

INGREDIENTS

  • L-Carnitine is an amino acid which helps the body produce energy. This helps Monster Energy create the reaction it does.
  • Ginseng is a medicinal herb believed to improve energy, have anti fatigue properties and relieve stress.
  • Guarana seeds a plant native to South America and are more dense in caffeine than coffee beans causing a rise in alertness and energy

  • Due to the major health risks and side effects caused by energy drinks, they are monitored and tested rigorously by the FDA and EMA. These drinks are not recommended for children and pregnant women and many shops do not allow minors under the age of 16 to purchase them. Monster Energy, alongside many other energy drinks are vegan friendly as they do not contain animal products.

VARIATIONS AND FLAVOURS

  • There are 34 different drinks under the Monster brand in North America, including its core Monster Energy line, Java Monster, Extra Strength, Import, Rehab and Muscle Monster.
