WHAT ARE THE NAMES OF THE DIFFERENT MOONS!

  • The moon reflects the suns light because it does have it's own light
  • It takes the moon 29.3 days to make it all the way around the earth
  • It depends where the moon is for it's shape
  • There are different names for the moons

NEW MOON

  • It is the moon sitting in front of the sun.
  • It happens during the middle of the day most of the time.

WAXING CRESCENT

  • It looks like a smiley face
  • It is really bright sometimes

FIRST QUARTER

  • It is half of a circle
  • You can't see the other side of it because the sun is not shinning on that side of the moon so it is pitch black
  • And it gets smaller as the sun begins to show and smaller and smaller

WAXING GIBBOUS

  • It is in the shape of a toe nail
  • Very little is shown and it is bright

FULL MOON

  • It is bright in the night sky
  • It is fully lighted and big
  • The sun is fully shinning on it so it is big and bright
  • It is a full circle and as it goes down it spins around the earth

WANING GIBBOUS

  • It is just like a waxing gibbous but it is the different side of the waxing gibbous
  • And it gets smaller as the sky becomes brighter and brighter

THIRD QUARTER

  • It is like the first quarter but it is the different side of it and it gets smaller
  • It show up on different nights and it keeps on show up on different nights

WANING CRESCENT

  • It looks like a banana and it is a very very very very small part of the moon
  • You can't really see it in the sky but sometimes it can be very very bright but if you can see it look very closely and you might just see it
