THE LEADER OF THE ISRAELITES

THE EXODUS FROM EGYPT

  • God told Moses to free his people
  • The Israelites were slaved because the pharaoh was fearful of the Israelites
  • Because Pharaoh refused, God punished Egypt with ten terrible Plagues.
  • The Pharaoh chased after them until they caught up with them at the Red Sea
  • Moses raised his staff and the waters of the sea parted.

THE EXODUS FROM EGYPT

  • When the egyptians tried to follow, the waters flooded.
  • After the Israelites left, They wandered for 40 years .
  • These 40 years, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments.
  • These Ten Commandments became the foundation of Judaism.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

  • By obeying God's commandments, Jewish people
  • would fulfill their part of the covenant with him.
  • Jewish people's responsibility was to make God's
  • moral teachings known to the world.
  • In return, God would protect them.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO JUDAISM

  • He led the exodus out of Egypt. This proved to the Jews that God watched over them.
  • Moses gave Judaism some of its most fundamental laws and teachings, which was called the Ten Commandments.
  • Moses Forged the Israelites into a united Jewish people devoted to one god.
