- Real name is elizabeth.
- From a mainly French speaking town.
- Immigrated to the United States.
- And eventually moved to Baltimore.

MAIN MISSON
- Realized that immigrant children needed an education.
- Opened a school in a her own home.
- Operated the school with a fellow sister, Marie magdaliene balas.

- Together, they operated the school for over 10 years.
- Took the name Mary because she was the founder and first superior general of the oblate sisters of providence.
