PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Speed
-Speed is the distance a object travels in a certain amount of time.
- S=D/T or Speed = Distance/Time.
- Mr. Doe walked 1 mile in one hour. Mr Doe walked 1 mile/hour.
-A shark's top speed is 44 miles/hour.
Average Speed
- Average speed is the total distance traveled divided by the total time taken.
- Average speed=Total distance/Total time.
- It takes Kira 36 seconds to jog to the store which is 72km away. Her average speed is 2km per second.
-A fun fact about average speed is that the average speed of a skydiver is 124 mph.
Velocity
- Velocity is speed in a given direction.
- Velocity=Distance/Time with a direction.
- A car is traveling 50 miles per hour north.
- Fun Fact: In order to find acceleration velocity is required.
Acceleration
- Acceleration is the rate at which velocity changes overtime.
- Acceleration=Final Velocity-Starting velocity/ Time it takes to change velocity.
- The cyclist in the picture is accelerating at 1 meter per second per second south.
- Fun fact: Galileo was the first to show that all objects fall to earth with constant acceleration.
Net Force
- The Net Force is the combination of the forces acting on an object.
- Force 1 (+-) Force 2 = Net Force.
- 25N+20N=45N
The net force is 45N.
- Fun Fact: The net force of the air resistance and the gravity is equal to 0.
