Great Faith - Confidence

Joshua

  • We may have to fight for the things God promises us
  • Following God requires boldness and brings blessing
  • God doesn't tell us not to feel fear; He tells us not to give into to it

Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

God wants our loyalty, our devotion, in good times and challenging times. He blesses those what come under His authority.
We need to be confident that God puts us in places and situations, with a purpose and a plan for good. This isn't always easy to do as we may be challenged and question why we are faced with certain obstacles or difficult individuals to deal with.
But being faithful and obedient to God will result in His blessings.

Psalms

  • provide us with practical advice, encouragement and comfort
  • they remind us of the ever-presence of God
If we are to have confidence and great faith then we must believe that "HE is"
He is the sun that rises in the morning.
He is the stars at night.
He is the bird that nests in the tree.
He is the child that plays on the swings.

Hebrews 11:6 says
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him.

Psalm 18:30
As for God, His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is tested and tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.

Psalm 57:7
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is steadfast and confident. I will sing and make melody.

Staying confident in God and His word is important, as we face the battle in our mind, with the enemy. The enemy's purpose is to shake our belief, to put doubt in our mind about our capabilities, to complete the task God assigns us.
We don't have to feel confident to be confident.
We can be confident by faith. \our confidence is with God, not ourselves.
There will be times when we will face situations with fear. But if we go into those situations with the confidence that God is with us, and will strengthen us, then we can step out in faith, knowing that we can silence the voice of the enemy.

Isaiah

  • gives people clear hope, comfort, and inspiration
  • He redeems and restores us, encourages us to trust Him, and promises that He will guide us

Isaiah 26:3
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You and hopes confidently in You.

This scripture promises that God will keep us in perfect and constant peace, when we keep our minds stayed on Him. When anxiety or worry fill our thoughts, we can look to God to experience His peace.

micah

  • Waiting on God is worth it
  • God has no equal when it comes to His compassion and faithfulness
The book of Micah teaches us about good leadership, honoring God, and God's promises of restoration.

Micah 7:7
But as for me, I will look to the Lord and confident in Him I will keep watch. I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

We need to be confident in God when things come against us. We need to live with expectancy of God's goodness and mercy. Being confident and positive leads to progress and moving forward.
God hears us when we pray in faith. Putting our confidence in Him we can expect good thing to happen.

PHILIPPIANS

  • Strength comes from the joy of the Lord
  • Rejoice in all things and cultivate real joy in your life.
  • Through our personal relationship with God we can find peace, pleasure and well being

Philippians 1:6
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

God has started a good work in us, and He will finish it. That is His promise. Our part is to keep believing in Him, confident that He is there with us every step of the way.

Philippians 3:3
For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit and by the Spirit of God, and exult and glory and pride ourselves in Jesus Christ, and put no confidence or dependence in the flesh and on outward privileges and physical advantage and external appearances.

We are not to put confidence in the flesh, ours or anybody else's. God wants our confidence to be in placed in Him alone. He wants us to be totally reliant on Him. He wants us to lean on Him for everything in our lives and be confident in His love and provision.

What does it mean to be confident in Christ?

The question is

What does it mean to be confident in Christ?

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 NIV)

It means believing. It means having great faith in God, knowing that He will provide.
