  • Discovered that it was passed down through families

  • Its a metabolism disorder passed down through families
  • The body cannot break down certain parts of protein
  • Also known as branched-chain ketoaciduria
  • It's a autosomal recessive metabolic disorder
  • The build-up of the amino acids produced can be harmful to the brain

EARLY SYMPTOMS OF MSUD

  • Irribility
  • Poor Feeding
  • Lethargy

WITHOUT TREATMENT MSUD CAN..

  • Lead to neurological damage
  • Seizures
  • A coma
  • Possible death
