PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Much Ado

Part Deux

Much Ado was written in 1598. Shakespeare borrowed the trope of a wrongly accused woman from the Greeks. Think of it as an acidic romance.

It's a story of near misses:
Losing Hero to Don Pedro
Beatrice forsaking Benedict
Benedict killing Claudio
Dogberry getting the watch to before the wedding

As all the problems are solved immediately, it's the dialogue that is the focus.
