There is less chance of your identity being cloned - as the information about you will be in several disconnected places it is more difficult for anyone to assemble enough information to copy or steal your identity.
You can distance yourself from embarrassing or inappropriate postings – there is less chance that photos or other material will be associated with all your identities, giving you the opportunity to abandon a ‘contaminated‘ persona. (Example on the next page)
However, if you are responsible and use common sense when deciding what to share with the internet, then you wouldn't need to use mutiple identities to distance yourself from personal sites
You will have a weaker and less visible online presence. Blogs and other social media will be disconnected and therefore less visible to others – including employers.
Multiple identities could cause others to question your trustworthiness. If you have multiple online personas others may believe you are trying to hide and engage in illicit activities.
