WHAT IS IT?

  • Chronic disease
  • Involves damages to nerve cells
  • In the brain and spinal chord

SYMPTONS

  • Numbness
  • Impairment of speech and muscle coordination
  • Blurred vision
  • Severe fatigue

CAUSES

  • Affects women more than men
  • Most commonly diagnosed between 20 and 40 yrs old
  • Damage to the protective covering that surrounds nerve cells

TREATMENT

  • No known cure for muscle sclerosis
  • However, there are therapies to slow it down
  • The goal of the treatments is to control the disease
  • Maintain normal quality of life
