The Temptations of Leadership
Abuse of authority - power, threats, I’m in charge, excuse for laziness
Fixing things for people - perfectionism doesn’t allow for growth and the expression of everyone’s talents
Giving up on a person - pushing aside a person because they seem too difficult, not engaged
Giving up on a project - support doesn’t seem to be there, things aren’t panning out like you thought they would
Vainglory - doing things for show to impress others
Pride - feeling important just because you are the leader

He who falls into the wicked passion of vainglory is alienated from peace and hardens his heart toward the saints. In the end of his evils, moreover, he falls into haughtiness, which is pride, the mother of all evils. So do you keep your activity hidden, faithful servant of Christ, and take heartfelt care not to lose the reward of your activity through pleasing folk, for anybody who does something to impress folk has his reward.

Combat the Temptations
1. there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God. (Rom 13:1 NRS)
2. Having an active prayer life - staying connected with God is the only way to know if you are serving Him or not
3. Checking your intentions - not a one-time thing, constant vigilance of the heart
4. Admitting your mistakes - Allowing yourself to be broken and vulnerable, it’s ok not to be perfect, it’s ok to do the wrong thing, repentance is the way of salvation
5. Give it up to God - all glory to him for the successes and failures
