MURINE NOROVIRUS

  • Most common cause of acute gastroenteritis in the U.S.
  • Each year it causes 19 to 21 million cases of acute gastroenteritis in the U.S.
  • There are many types of norovirus

VACCINATION

  • There no vaccine to prevent the norovirus

IT CAUSES...

  • Sickness and diarrhea in sufferers
  • You can feel very sick with diarrhea and vomiting many times a day
  • Some people may get severely dehydrated
  • It causes 56,000 to 71,000 hospitalizations and 570 to 800 deaths each year

TRANSMISSION

  • Eating food or drinking liquids that are contaminated with norovirus
  • Touching surfaces or objects contaminated with norovirus then putting your fingers in your mouth
  • Having contact with someone who is infected with norovirus

BENEFICIAL

  • It protects mouse guts
  • Helps keep human guts healthy
