PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ISLAMIC EXPANSION

ANDREW CRAIG

The Caliph was the leader of both the religious movement and the political power that Muhammad had established

The Riddha wars were a series of conflicts fought between Muslims and Arabs in the years after Muhammad

Islamic expansion began by the Riddah Wars that were a series of military campaigns made by Muslims armies. It also began by them conquering different empires like the Persian Empire and the Sassanid Empire.

Islam spread by missionaries, traders and other people. It also spread because when Islam conquered empires they did not force people to convert in exchange for paying taxes but people converted anyways so they did not have to pay taxes and because they treated everyone equally.

From 661 to 750 The Umayyad Dynasty was the first great Islamic dynasty, added Spain, North Africa, and parts of Central Asia to the kingdom, effectively doubling its size

The Abbasid Dynasty was the second grate Muslim dynasties established after the death of the prophet Muhammad in 632.
