MY CIA PROJECT

BY JOHN QUAAS

FREE WILL VS. SIN

-When our world was created God gave us the right to be able to choose from right and wrong, this is free will.

- Free will is related to sin because sinning is the outcome of choosing to do wrong

OUR CHOICE

  • Having a choice is having free will
  • Everytime we make the wrong choice it is a sin
  • The amount we sin is completely up to us
  • Sinning is a sign on choosing to do wrong

In our lives, we can make the decision to follow what Jesus taught us by serving others

It is up to us to chose which path we take.

We have the opportunity to accomplish many great things.

FOUR MARKS OF THE CHURCH

In the Nicene Creed we profess, "I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church". These are the essential features and mission of the Catholic Church.

LINKED AS ONE

  • They are all inseparably linked together and coincide with each other.
  • The Church fulfills these four through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  • We fulfill them through the guidance of the Church

HOW ARE WE ONE?

  • We are one, there is one body and spirit that makes up our faith
  • God is one in the Father,Son, and Holy Spirit which make up the Holy Trinity
  • The Catholic Faith has one founder, Jesus Christ
  • Our teachings and beliefs are one as we are united in charity
  • We are one in our celebration of the 7 sacraments

"Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf"
-Corinthians10:17

HOW ARE WE HOLY?

  • The Church is in union with Jesus, the source of all holiness
  • Jesus is the source of holiness in that he was born without sin
  • By the grace of God we can achieve it.
  • We can be holy with the guidance of The Holy Spirit

Holiness is sacred and only followers of Christ can be opened up to it.

HOW ARE WE CATHOLIC?

  • Catholic stands for "universal" meaning all
  • Christ's mission is to unite us all as one into The People of God
  • We are Catholic because we orignate from Jesus
  • His teachings are what our faith has been structured from

By being universal, we all are united in our faith together as one

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" -Ephesians 4:3

HOW ARE WE APOSTOLIC?

The Catholic faith is apostolic because it originated with The 12 apostles who Jesus gave his authority and power to when He ascended into heaven.

The Church was built upon the foundation of the Apostles

Our professions of faith found in both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition were taught and preserved by the apostles who handed them on through the generations

The Apostles are extremely important to Catholicism because they are the reason its beliefs, concepts, and ideas were passed on and are still here today
