MY DREAM CAREER

My dream job is a middle school art teacher. This really interests me because I love art and teaching. It requires a bachelors degree in teaching the subject of art, a minor in education, practical classroom experience, and a state license. The average annual salary of a person starting out in this job is $57,620.

I would be attending The University of Texas at Austin. The cost of tuition per semester is $4,839, and the cost for 3 1/2 years is $33,873 ( assuming I did AP classes in high school ). I plan to practice and become good enough at basketball to get a scholarship. I choose to try to get a scholarship to college because I think if I practice a lot I can do it.

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

• Because UT is in state it will cost less to go to than an out-of-state college
• Most of my family has been to this college and can help me if I have trouble
• Even though it will cost less because than if it were out-of-state, it still costs more than community college
• It is a large university and it is away from home

OTHER FACTS

• I have been wanting to be an art teacher since I was in first grade
• My mom, dad, grandfather, and great cousin all went to UT
• I am now considering being a PA (physicians assistant)
