PRESENTATION OUTLINE
HOW ARE INSECTS SO SUCCESSFUL?
Insects have survival strategies like some having wings, exoskeletons, strong legs, they are small, and some are able to camouflage. For example, some insects are able to heal quickly, able to stand the heat, or even regrow joints.
HOW ARE LADYBUGS SO SUCCESSFUL?
Ladybugs are predators to aphids, a ladybug can eat up to 5,000 aphids over its lifetime. They can also help to rid your garden of other small insects like mites, mealybugs, leafhoppers, insect eggs, and even ants. Ladybugs can warn and camouflage with their colors to let other insects know they’re not harmful. Ladybugs can play dead when there is something dangerous, this tricks the pretador potentially leaving the ladybug alone. The ladybugs let out blood from their legs, as well.
HOW ARE ANTS SO SUCCESSFUL?
Ants are usually the first insect to arrive at a picnic, this shows they’re doing their job, so don’t be afraid to give them a little piece!
Ants had first arrived around 120 years ago, but that doesn’t mean they are the first insect in the world. Around 60 million years ago, they adapted to the new world and diversified their diets.
Ants rule because of the many different ways in which they have adapted to work and eat.they are known to have the smartest brain of all insects, they can communicate, avoid and fight enemies, search for food, show courtship signals, and use complex navigation over long distances. Impressive!
HOW ARE DRAGONFLIES SO SUCCESSFUL?
While hunting prey, dragonflies have a catch rate of 95%, higher than any other animal observed. Dragonflies have many unique adaptations they have accumulated throughout their evolution, including aspects of their eyesight and flight. Dragonflies can move and rotate each of their four wings on their own. Because of this, they can fly backwards, up and down. Dragonflies make outdoor experiences better by reducing the amount of mosquitoes and gnats out there. Each dragonfly eats 30 to hundreds of mosquitoes a day.
MADAGASCAR HISSING COCKROACHES
what are Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, you ask? Well, to answer your question, here are some facts about them:
Females are the the ones with the thinner antenna, males have thicker antenna. Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches LOVE sweet things. Honey barbecue sauce, also. They have a strong exoskeleton and they don’t have lungs, they have a channel of tubes throughout their body. There are holes that let the air in and out, that’s what can cause the hissing noise.
MY OPINION ON INSECTS
Interesting - How insects like ants, for example, are able to get inside houses so easily. It’s quite annoying to see them, but I find it interesting how they even got in.
Also, how beautiful some can be.
Surprising - Some insects eat other insects of the same breed, which is surprising to me.
Unusual - Some insects can molt I guess, like change how they look at it kind of disgusts me.
