My Perfect Working Day

Published on Apr 09, 2016

I thought it would be fun to create a deck about what I think would be my perfect working day.

I would also encourage you to try and create your own "Perfect Day"

Once you have created this perfect working day the next step is to live it.

6.30 am

Rise and Shine.

I was never very good at waking up early, mostly due to the ridiculous late nights I found myself having.

I would stay up working on my latest project or watching some random black and white movie and then crawl into bed at the early hours.

I was constantly tired.

I still have not defeated the "Late Night Monster" completely but I am getting better at being an early riser.

So for my perfect working day I would jump out of bed at 6.30 am feeling refreshed and energised!

Well I would at least be up and awake.

7.00 am

Run.

I've always joked that I was not built to run, but this year I chose to set a goal for myself that I would attempt to run a half marathon!

Following the Kajoler 90 day program I am getting closer to this becoming a reality!

So with lycra on I would step out the house, ideally it would not be raining and not too cold.

I would run for about 45 mins around the streets where I live and see the rest of the world starting to come alive and begin their own working day.

Also there would be no dog poo on the street!!

7.45 am

Time for a shower.

Not too much to say about this.

The water pressure would be good and the temperature just right.

Some freshly laundered white fluffy towels also would be much appreciated.

8.00 am

Black Coffee.

I'm a really big fan of good quality coffee.

It tastes even better when someone else makes it for me.

So after I have got myself dressed a nice cup of black coffee would be waiting for me.

8.15 am

Journaling and Planning.

This is something I am trying to do more each day and I must admit I still have not yet found the ideal solution for myself.

So for my perfect day I would use this time to de-clutter my thoughts.

Spend some time detailing what I'm grateful for.

Sort out my daily schedule and work commitments.

Check in with the goals I have set for myself, and see what task and actions are needed to be completed for the day.

I always keep a space in my journal for new ideas so if i get some creative inspiration I have a place to write it down.

8.30 am

Emails - Emails - Emails

Checking and replying to emails is one of the daily chores I really need to get in check!

I have read lots about the idea of reaching the elusive inbox Zero, so for my perfect working day I would have achieved this.

In the ideal world I plan to limit my time spent on emails to just 2 blocks each day.

The first is this one from 8.30 am - 9.00 am

I will have a system in place to handle any emails that fall outside of these times and will be handled accordingly.

Also there would be a magic Unsubscribe Fairy that would rid my inboxes of all the spam and unwanted mail shots.

9.00 am

Smoked salmon and eggs.

One of my favourite breakfasts, and really quite easy and quick to make.

For my perfect working day I would share this breakfast with someone special and we could chat and spend some quality time together over a leisurely breakfast.

With perhaps another pot of coffee too.

I am a real big "Foodie" so would love to know your fav breakfasts.

Why not post a pic on Instagram and tag me.

10.00 am

Catching up on the news.

I would spend the next hour catching up on industry news and reading my favourite blogs.

I would still have a few newspapers delivered to my office so if I felt inclined to read them I could.

Most of my daily reading is done online but it's great to still have the feeling of a good book in your hands.

We are going to be launching The Kajoler Book Club very soon. So if you are an avid book reader and what to chat and share ideas with other members of our community then make sure you sign up to our FB group.

11.oo am

Create Content.

For the next two hours I would focus on purely creating content for my business.

This may be writing a blog post, updating some course details or perhaps working on one of my podcast shows.

This would be a no distraction time.

For my perfect day I would have a really nice home office setup with all the latest equipment and would not be working sat on my sofa like I am now!

I might even have time to start writing that book I keep thinking about.

1.00 pm

Social Media.

I'm the first to admit I spend too much time on Facebook and Twitter.

One of the main reasons we all overdo social media is the very nature of these sites.

We dip in and out sporadically throughout the day and those few moments here and another few minutes there soon add up.

To stop the social media time suck I will limit my social media activity for my businesses to an allotted one hour and thirty minutes.

So no time for watching cat videos on Youtube.

Being active on social media is very important for Kajoler so that is why I have kept this into my perfect working day.

2.30 pm

Time for Lunch.

I would take a little stroll to one of the local cafes for something to eat.

Nothing to heavy something light and possibly French or Italian cuisine inspired.

I'm really hungry while I'm typing this so my mouth is watering at the thought.

Perhaps a cheeky glass of wine with lunch too!

Also it's a nice sunny day so I would be sitting outside :)

3.45 pm

School Pickup.

My children don't live with me all the time.

On my perfect working day I would arrange to pick the children up from school and then drop them back at their mums house.

Usually I would not get a chance to see them when I am working, but as it's my perfect day I get to ask them how their day was and spend some time with them before I have to head back to the office.

6.oo pm

Back to the office.

I would factor in another two hour time slot here for checking my emails and correspondence.

Any meetings or phone calls that needed to be arranged would also be scheduled into my diary for the next week or so.

If I had any time left I would spend it checking my headway goals and writing in my daily journal.

I think it's important to list any lessons learnt from the day and writing down any big wins myself or the company may have had.

8.00 pm

Dinner and drinks.

I would make sure I was able to leave the office early enough so I could go out for dinner and perhaps a couple of drinks.

But remember I have to be up early again to go for a run and start this process all over again so it would be an early night for me.
