My personal Resume

Introduction

  • Ali Abu-Raad
  • Meadowvale SS; Mississauga, Ontario
  • Focusing on Visual and Media Arts Courses
My name is Ali Abu-Raad and I currently go to Meadowvale SS in Mississauga, where I’m focusing on Visual and Media Arts courses. This is all to help in my application to Sheridan College, but I'll talk more about that later

this presentation...

  • Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Hobbies and Interests
  • Dream Job and Pathway Choice
Throughout this presentation I'll go through some of my strengths and weaknesses, some hobbies and extra-curricular activities, my dream job, as well as connecting some key topics together.

Strengths and Weaknesses

So starting off with strengths and weaknesses-

Strengths

  • Organizational Skills
  • Collaboration
  • Hard-Working Attitude
-My first strength would definitely relate to my organizational skills, I’m very good at keeping very efficient deadlines for myself and any others that could use the extra help.

Another strength would definitely be a part of how well I can work with others, I’ve been a part of various bands and clubs at Meadowvale, all requiring putting out ideas, and especially incorporating a very large group of 18-20 people into a final performance.

A third strength would definitely be along the lines of my very hard-working attitude. I take a lot of pride in how much I have progressed as an artist over the past couple years, I put in a lot of time and effort into where I am now, and I know that that can be applied to complete any task.

Weaknesses

  • Organizational Skills can be a little overkill
I’ve noticed that sometimes my organizational skills tend to be a little overkill, sometimes I can over-organize for someone, leading them to sometimes be confused after the fact. But I realized really early on, that I just needed to communicate with them along the way, to make sure I do what they need done in a way that works for them after. I'm just glad I know how to fix the problem.

Hobbies and Interests

moving on to some hobbies and my personal life-

the Fine Arts

  • Passionate about art
  • Regularly practice
  • Digital tablet
  • Versed in many different mediums
I’ve actually been passionate about art since I was a very young boy, I took every opportunity I could to learn a new technique, theory, or history of an artist or style of art. I believe my grade 9 year was definitely the year I’ve expanded my knowledge the most. We handled clay, as well as ancient Egyptian art history and theory, motifs, and even some calligraphy. It's given me more mediums that I can work with to get an art piece done.

music

  • A part of every band at Meadowvale SS
  • Plays drums
  • enjoys listening and playing along to music
I'm also very musically inclined, being a part of every band a Grade 9 student could possibly join. It was my first time playing in a school band and I easily noticed a large improvement in my skills as a drummer. It taught me how a good team works, and the best ways I could contribute to keeping the team fluent and "well-oiled"

Dream Job and Career Pathway

Dream Job

  • Still uncertain
  • Definitely going to be involved in the Fine Arts industry
  • Digital Artist, Illustrator, Animator, Graphic Designer,
My dream job is still uncertain, but i have no doubt that it lies some where in the Fine Arts industry.
Careers such as a Digital Artist, Illustrator, Animator, and Graphic Designer are all interesting to me.

Career Pathway

  • 3-year program at Sheridan College
  • ensures a broad variety of available options
  • still receiving a firm set skills to be applied nearly anywhere
After high school, I plan on heading to take a 3-year program for visual arts at Sheridan, which I’m very excited about. After that, my career goal is still uncertain, but I want to have a very broad and varied amount of options for careers and Sheridan seems to be able to give that to me. I'll be learning as much as I can and expanding my personal portfolio more and more, versing myself in as many techniques and skills as I can, so that any possible option remains open.
I really liked the opportunity because I saw it as a necessary step to get the amount of experience I’m looking for.

Hobbies - Industry

Art Hobby - Art Career

  • Practicing regularly
  • Taking art courses (Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 Visual and Media Arts)
  • Gaining useful art knowledge and theory for Sheridan, and possible future career choices
  • Gives me more experience with a bigger variety of options
To connect Art as a hobby to Art as a career, I think I'm definitely on the path to getting as ready as possible for an art-based career. I practice regularly on my own personal digital tablet, I also have planned to take nearly all of the possible visual and media arts courses for the rest of my high-school years. All for me to just soak in all the experience that these courses have to offer so I can re-assess and see where I want to move on.
