but...why to share?

BUT... WHY TO SHARE?

• "Sólo no puedes, ¡con amigos sí," it's a slogan from a Spanish children TV show from the 80's
• It means: "I cannot do it alone. I can do it with the help of my friends!"
• PLNs make work easier for teachers
• PLNs help teachers specialize
• PLNs create the positive feeling of group/community

How I created my PLN

• As there were a lot of tools... I decided to classify them:
• Experts & Publications
• Resources
• Lesson plans & Presentations
• Communication

Belonging to communities to keep updated and find help

Following new educational resources, multimedia & ideas

Developing resources (individually or collaborating) using online tools

Establishing communication channels 

and now...

#1.- running a pln

• It takes time to create a PLN
• You have to have a clear purpose 
• You have to know the utilities the tools offer
• You have to practice very often to get started (i.e.: terminology)

#2.- mastering a pln

• Review the tools you are using and decide if they are useful or not
• Take part in online chats as a participant
• Comment others' publications 
• Try to get the maximum of every tool
• Help others to create their own PLN (teaching is learning!)

#3.- maintaing & growing your pln

• Continue trying new tools 
• Think about if there are worthy payable tools that offer a higher quality 
• Think about if there are worthy payable tools that you will use very often
• Start hosting chats and forums
• Create a blog that you can share with your current PLN 

and I also learned more...

• Social Media is the way most people exchange information and ideas nowadays
• To exchange this information and keep in touch, people use Web 2.0 tools
• Creative Commons protect Intellectual Property 
• C.C. also help understand citizens the correct use information from the Int
• Now I'm a better educator, I can grow independently using my PLN

Summary

• I've used this year all the tools I mentioned previously plus Kidblog 
• I'm planning to use: Wikispaces, Adobe Connect, Wigio, Glogster
• I'm going to continue improving my PLN and make it grow
• I enjoyed using different tools for presentations and learning about CC
• Now I'm a better educator, I can grow independently using my PLN
