OATH OF LOYALTY

  • First, I would make sure that EVERYONE in formal confederate states take oaths of loyalty, and each person knows the consequences of breaking it, they can break it if they don't desire to live in the U.S. any longer

SLAVERY

  • They will accept the fact that African Americans are now free, not enslaved, and if not, can peacefully leave the U.S.
  • Also, they will ratify the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, and repeal all black codes. The KKK will not exist, unless they want to visit the prison for a lifetime or leave the U.S.

CONSTITUTION
Each state would be required to write a new constitution, including rights and suffrage for AA's.

MILITARY DISTRICTS

  • The South would continue to be divided into 5 military districts, for better control. However, you couldn't just leave the districts, you must have formally asked the state in advance. (When they receive your question, they have to check your records to make sure you aren't dangerous or been charged for anything)
  • Citizens would also have a curfew, if you are found out of your house after 11:30, they you will be escorted back to your home. After three warnings, you will have a fine of $100, and that will increase if breaking curfew continues. Rule will apply until government views that it is not needed.

Instead of Freedman's Bureau, there would be the AAPGA (The African American Protection and Growth Agency), which provided help to those who needed it. Helped them find jobs, go to school, and have a stable life. Also, it helped them grow out of being scared of the white americans. It would extent out of Texas and to anywhere it is needed.

SEGREGATION

  • In my plan, segregation would still happen, but not to an unfair extent. Black and white couldn't go to the same restaurants, but the black would be just as nice as the white. (Ex. Separated schooling, but both will be quality education.)

POWER IN GOVERNMENT

  • The South still had power in the government, and would have state representatives just like the North. However, 70% of the U.S. States had to ratify any South suggested laws.
