  • Separated for 28 years.
  • All in East forced into poverty.
  • All in East wanted freedom, not oppression.
  • West Berliners wanted to be reunited.
  • West Berliners were supporters of Capitalism.

An embarrassment to the USSR

  • The radiation went unchecked by the USSR.
  • Citizens of Pripyat were not told of the radiation until two days after.
  • First detected radiation elsewhere was in Sweden, hours north of Stockholm.
  • Fallout was dangerous because Chernobyl had no containment building.
  • In some places, exclusion zone is 60 Miles across.
