1769

  • Napoleon Bonaparte was born
  • He was born on the island of Corsica

1795

  • A government official told napoleon to defend the delegates.
  • He and his gunners caused all the royalists to flee.
  • This made Napoleon more well known and started his legacy.

1796

  • Directory appointed Napoleon a leader of one of the french armies.
  • He was assigned to attack Austria.
  • Him and his army got into Italy and won many amazing victories.
  • Napoleon led his army to Egypt to protect their trade interests.
  • Napoleon failed and was pinned down in Egypt.

1799

  • When Napoleon came back from Egypt, he decided to seize political power.
  • His army drove out most of the the people of the government.
  • The remaining voted to take out the directory.
  • Napoleon became the dictator of France.

1804

  • Napoleon made himself emperor.
  • He took the Pope's crown and placed it on his own head in December.
  • This means he thinks he's stronger than the church.

1805

  • The Battle of Trafalgar was the one major battle Napoleon lost.
  • He was at war with british and their commander, Horatio Nelson, was a genius.
  • He captured many french ships, splitting the French fleet.
  • Nelson made Napoleon give up his plans on invading Britain.

1812

  • Britain, Portugal, Sweden, and the Ottoman Empire were the ones free from Napoleon.
  • Napoleon controlled many independent countries also.
  • This year was the final year Napoleon and French was stable.
  • After 1812, the French Empire broke down.

JUNE 1812

  • Napoleon and his army marched into Russia to fight Russia.
  • Russian troops retreated, knowing they weren't going to win.
  • The Russians burned their crops so French could not live off their land.
  • This left nothing for napoleon and his army to eat.

SEPTEMBER 1812

  • When they finally clashed, it caused the battle of Borodino.
  • While fighting, Russia moved back, luring Napoleon to Moscow.
  • When Napoleon got there, the city was on fire.
  • Alexander destroyed it so Napoleon cannot.
  • In october, the Russians took down Napoleon's entire army.

1813

  • Napoleon got together a weak and untrained army together barely ready to fight a war.
  • Old allies from Europe fought Napoleon's new army.
  • His army quickly got dominated.

JANUARY/APRIL 1814

  • Napoleon, his army, and allies were on their way to paris.
  • In april, Napoleon did not want to quit, but his generals did not let him.
  • He was forced to give up his position in the army and go home.

1815

  • In June, Napoleon attacked Britain in Waterloo, Belgium.
  • Later, while Britain was holding Napoleon back well, Prussian showed up.
  • Both Prussia and Britain attacked France.
  • After a few days, Napoleon has been defeated.
  • This ended his career completely.
