There are three main types of narrators, or points of view: omniscient, first person, and third person limited.

OMNISCIENT

THE NARRATOR IS NOT A CHARACTER IN THE STORY AND ALMOST NEVER REFERS TO HIMSELF OR HERSELF DIRECTLY.

FIRST PERSON

A CHARACTER IN THE STORY WHO TALKS TO US, USING I, THE FIRST PERSON PRONOUN.

THIRD PERSON

STORYTELLER ZOOMS IN ON JUST ONE CHARACTER

UNRELIABLE AND CREDIBLE

  • Unreliable is biased and does not tell the truth.
  • Credible is a narrator that can be trusted.
  • Tone- attitude of speaker
  • Language, style, tone, and choice of words is the writers diction.
