PURPOSE OF NRA

  • The goal was to bring industry, labor, and government together.
  • It was created to create the codes of "fair practices" and prices. (fair practices means rules and regulations)

WHO DID IT AFFECT/BENEFIT

  • The NRA affected businessmen who dominated the code of drafting wanted guaranteed profits and insisted security for the renewed investment and future production.

Although the NRA was at first was successful in combating many of the harmful effects of the Great Depression, such as high unemployment and high pricing, it stpped operating in 1935.

The NRA ended because unhappy labor union representatives fought with little success for the collective bargaining promised by the NRA. The codes did little to help recovery, and by raising prices, they actually made the economic situation worse.
