ANCIENT INDIANS

HUNTERS AND GATHERS
The ancient indians loved to hunt mastodans and mammoths. The ancient indians needed these types of animals to survive. Most of the ancient indians are nomads. A nomad has no specific spot as a home. Once the mammoths and mastodans died, the ancient indians had to figure out what else to eat. They started to hunt other aniamls and starting agriculturrre.

THE DESERT SOUTHWEST INDIANS

THE PUEBLO PEOPOLES
The Pueblo Peoples live in the Southwestern parts of the USA. These people lived in pueblos. The homes were levels of homes in the side of a mountain. These homes were made out of adobe. The Pueblo people ate mostly corn, beans, and squash.

THE NORTHHHWEST COAST

THE CHINOOKS, MAKAHS, AND THE KWAKIUTLS
These Native Americans used dugout canoes because of fishing and hunting. These were the Native Americans that went whale hunting. These were dangerous hunts, but when they killed the whales, they would have tons of food. These tribes also had totem poles near their homes.

THE ARTIC INDIANS

THE INUITS
The Inuits are an amazing group of Native Americans. They ususally live in igloos. During the summer they do make tents out of animal skin. The aniamls were really important to the inuits. They used them for food since they really couldn't farm. They also used the animal skin as clothing. The weather was very cold so they needed warm clothing.

PLAINS INDIANDS

BUFFALO
The Plains Indians second most important resource was the buffalo. They used every part of the buffalo. The buuffalo hide would be used for homes. The meat they would eat and dry for jerky later. They even used the stomach lining as a water bag. The farm and hunter indians lived in Earth Lodges. The Plains Nomads lived in tepees.

EASTERN WOODLANDS

LOCATED ON THE EASTERN COASTAL AREA
These Native Americans werer farmers, gatherers, and hunters. The would form palisades around their villages. They built wigwams and longhouses. The two main groups are the Algonquians and the Iroquois.
