Hernan Cortez
born in 1485, Spain.Died in December 2, 1547
In 1504, he set sail for the new world just as word of Columbus’s voyage hit Spain.
In 1518 he led an expedition into Mexico. When the governor who sent him on the expedition changed his mind, Cortes went anyway. He left in February 1519 with 11 ships, 500 men, 13 horses and a handful of canons.
When he arrived in the Yucatan Peninsula he burnt his ships, thus committing himself to the conquest.
Found the Aztec Empire who believed him to be the god Quetzalcoatl.
He destroyed the Aztec Empire later on.
Charles Darwin
was born in England in 1809, and he died on April, 19 1882.
When he returned home from his studies from University of Edinburgh Medical School he found a letter from John Stevens Henslow (a botany professor and close friend), that proposed Darwin would be a suitable gentleman naturalist to accompany captain Robert FitzRoy to chart the South American coastline on the HMS Beagle.
Their journey began on December 27, 1831 and would last almost five years.
He sailed for England

born in Venice around 1254. Sailed for Italy. Died in 1324
His journey took him through Armenia, Persia, Afghanistan, over the Pamir mountains, along the Silk Road, through the Taklamaken and Gobi desert, all the way to Cambaluc (Beijing). This journey took more than three years.

Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Sailed for Spain. Died on 1506.

Ponce de Leon's nationality was Spanish.
Set sail on Columbus' second voyage on September 25, 1493 for the New World.
27 March 1513 Juan Ponce de Leon comes within sight of the coast ( Florida).
