PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Natural Gas

By: Shea & Steve

Intro

  • Natural Gas is a nonrenewable resource
  • Usually extracted via pipeline

Transportation

  • After extraction, the same pipelines are used to move the gas to trucks
  • The trucks then move the gas to homes and other places where it will be used and sold

Electrical Generation

  • Natural gas is burned to create electricity
  • It is primarly used for fire stoves and heating systems

Resources Used

  • Shale gas
  • Propane
  • Nitrogen
  • Methane/biogas

Energy Generation from Source

  • After extraction, spare water is removed
  • Acidic gases are removed
  • Mercury is removed
  • Process of Nitrogen removal
  • After the Merox process, it is Propane
  • (The above steps are altered slightly to get things like Ethane, Butanes etc.)

Pollutants

  • Air emissions are released when using Natural Gas

Advantages of Natural Gas

  • There is a large and plentiful supply of it
  • It produces a lot of energy
  • It is much cleaner compared to other nonrenewable resources.
