Navigating Early

Navigating Early is about a boy named Jack Baker, when his mom past away his dad sends him to Morton Hill Academy for boys in Maine. He met another boy named Early Auden, other people says that Fisher died in a war, but Early thinks that he is still alive and that he is just lost. He thinks that a great black bear will lead him to Fisher and Pi, so Early and Jack go on a quest. Early made up a story about the number Pi, so that each number represents something that is going on with the character Pi. He also thinks that Fisher is in the same journey as Pi, so if he finds Pi, then he will also find his brother. They face many problems on their quest.

Quotes!

  • My favorite quote is when Jack Says, "You get what you get and you are what you are," (p.2). I like this quote because I think it means that you have to accept who you are and also to appreciate what you have.

My Reaction

  • I really like this book because it was very descriptive and it is about 2 boys on a quest to find Early's brother, Fisher, and Pi, a character that Early made up from the number Pi.

Another Reaction

  • My favorite part of the book was when Early thinks MacScott and his men was pirates because when one of MacScott's men took an apple from Early's backpack and ate it, Early says to Jack, that is what pirates do, they steal things that doesn't belong to them.
