NAVY NURSE CORPS

WHAT THEY DO

  • Provides high quality nursing care for sailors, marines, and service members
  • Also provides for there families
  • Also takes part in humanitarian relief efforts, such as:
  • Administering infant vaccinations to children in places like Cienaga and Colombia
  • Providing emergency care for victims of natural disasters

REQUIRED TRAINING

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
  • Must complete the fallowing courses:
  • Introduction to naval science
  • Seapower and Maritime affairs
  • Leadership and Management I and II

REQUIRED TRAINING (CONTINUED)

  • Participate in weekly NROTC drill instruction periods
  • Participate in two summer training periods of four weeks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizen practicing in U.S.
  • Student or graduate of standing U.S education program
  • License to practice in U.S., District of Colombia, & common wealth of Puerto Rico
  • Willing to serve minimum of 3 years active duty
  • Age between 18 and 41 with good physical condition and full medical examination

MONEY AND SALERY

  • Coves full cost of nursing education ($180,000)
  • Yearly income of 46-48K

LOCATION

  • More than 250 Navy & medical facilities around the world

HOW FOREIGN LANGUAGE IS HELPFUL

  • You may be stationed to help others anywhere around the globe
  • Knowing foreign languages helps w/ understanding the people you're nursing
  • Will help you understand the people who need help
  • Will make you capable of conversing with the person you are helping
