Untitled Slide

  • It took almost 10 million years to form a solar system after our solar nebula collapsed.
  • The collapse was sparked by a supernova explosion

Untitled Slide

  • When the collapse occurred it condensed and has and dust were more attracted to each other.
  • The nebula couldn't keep it together, thus formed a protostellar disk with a warm center.
Vocabulary Terms:
Condense
Protostellar Disk

Untitled Slide

  • Particles of dust that orbited the center of the solar nebula or the protosun collided and began to develop into bigger masses
  • Small planets and a proplanetary disk formed as the masses collided and fused together
Vocabulary terms:
Protosun
Dust
Protostellar disk
Solar nebula
Collision
Fusion

Untitled Slide

  • The planetismals began colliding and started to form the planets we know today.
  • The new planets started orbiting and spinning around the new sun.
Vocabulary Terms:
Planetismals
Spinning

Untitled Slide

  • The sun started to form when the matter in the nebula began to pull towards the center
  • The center got so hot that helium gas was formed and the hot center released a lot of energy
  • It balanced the gravitational pull to the center and the sun was formed.
Vocabulary Terms:
Gas

After that the terrestrial planets and gas giants were formed to create our solar system!

Vocabulary Terms:
Terrestrial Planets
Gas Giants
