LIFE

  • He was born on July 18, 1918
  • Born in the South African village of Mvezo
  • Died in 2013 at the age of 95

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

  • Was born into a royal family
  • His father was Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa
  • His father died in 1927
  • 9-year-old Mandela was adopted when father died
  • Right before Mandela died, he had 4 kids

HIS WORK

  • His main work was fighting for black equality
  • All of his views and questions were illegal at the time
  • When he wasn't in jail, he led a lot protest rallies
  • After unarmed killings on blacks, Mandela rallied the blacks
  • He became a leader of a protest group

RENAISSANCE
Nelson Mandela was a true Renaissance man. He was an independent thinker, a leader, and he made his ideas in reality. He was a true inspiration to all blacks and, even though he died, people still use his ideas and methods today.
