• Neo-Confucianism contains elements from Daoism and Buddhism
• having personal morality= highest goal
• Confucianism is more focused on relationships, while Neo-Confucians foucses on gender ideas

Family in Confuciaism

• Family is very important in confuciansim
• filial piety is the highest duty
• relationship of father and son.

Status of Women

• believed that they should stay home and take care of the house
• shouldn't be involved with textile
• if their husband died then they shouldn't get remarried
• had to be a virgin at marriage and faithful through out their marriage

Children in Neo-Confucianism

• children must obey and respect their parents
• children were vauled during this time
