WHO?
Nestorius was the Patriarch of Constantinople in 428-431
He created the Nestorianism heresy

WHAT?
He professed that though Mary was the mother of Christ, she was not the mother of God
His doctrine fractures Jesus Christ into two separate beings, fully divine and fully human
Catholics reject this idea

WHEN?
St. Cyril and Pope St. Celestine rejected this as heretical teachings of Nestorius in August 430, at a council in Rome

CONTINUED
In 431, the Third Ecumenical Council condemned Nestorius' teachings and declared Mary as the true mother of God

Nestorious was removed as patriarch
later sent to a monestary
in 435, the emperor Nestorious' books to be burned
in 436, Nestorius was banished to Egypt where he died
