Avoid Sarcasm in Messages

  • Avoid sarcasm in online communication, this may be misinterpretted from lack of nonverbal communication to convey the meaning.

If you wouldn't say it face to face don't

  • Don't say anything over the internet that you wouldn't say to the persons face.
  • Remember the person who is sitting on the other side of the screen!

It's not funny to hurt someone

  • Don't post anything with the intent of hurting another person.

Don't Plagerize

  • Don't ever claim someone else's ideas or work as your own.
  • Always cite your sources and give the author credit for their work/ideas.

Avoid gossiping

  • Don't share untrue stories.
  • Keep personal information personal.
  • Not all stories need to be shared, some should be kept private.

Follow email headers/subjects

  • Be sure the content of your email matches your subject/email header.
  • This makes it easier on the reader to organize the information being shared.

Be a concise writer

  • Only write what is necessary for the reader to grasp the concept.
  • Avoid rambling with unneeded words
