Network Security Policies

  • Cherish the network equipment
  • Abide by the national policies, laws, and regulations about network.
1. User should cherish the network equipment. Without the permission of department which is responsible for school network, it is illegal to install, change, or remove any network equipment.
2. User ought to abide by the national policies, laws, and regulations about network. Activities which will endanger the school network are inhibitive. At the same time, user has the responsibility to report any illegal act or harmful information that they find on school network to related department. Illegal act may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a) Spread any information that intent to insult others, defame the school, disturb public, or even against the law
b) Usurp other people’s account
c) Spread virus
d) Attack the network
e) Steal or change other people’s information or school information

  • Control the network information security.
  • Anti-virus software
3. A completed cryptosecurity for software and data within school network is necessary. Different security classifications should be provided: (1) open to Internet, (2) open to department, (3) open to class, (4) only for personal use. User should respect the regulations of confidentiality of both information and resources within school network. Without permission, any dissemination of software and information data belong to school network is the act of tort.
4. Network administrators should be responsible for controlling the network information security. They should check the information that posted in school network and delete the harmful information. Besides, they
5. Network administrators need to install the anti-virus software in every computer within school network. Meanwhile, they should assist every department about the anti-virus work. Updating anti-virus software and uploading virus report are necessary work for every network administrator.

School should set up a network center (or other similar department) to implement this policy. The network center also need to deal with security trouble, support anti-virus work, check the network equipment, and ensure that the school network is working well. Besides, the network center can provide an annual training about network security for all teachers and students to help them develop a concept toward network security. To make sure the policy is meeting the need, an annual meeting to discuss the new situation and develop new rules is suggested.
