Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue.

What is it about???

Neurofibromatosis is a disease that affects the nervous system, your brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

Diagnosed during childhood or early adulthood, mostly commonly diagnosed in kids and teens.

Affects hearing loss, learning impairment, heart and blood vessel complications, loss of vision and severe pain.

Neurofibromatosis 1: Symptoms
🔸 flat, light spots on the skin
🔸 freckling in the armpits or groin area appears around ages 4-5
🔸 soft bumps on or under the skin
🔸 tiny bumps on the iris of your eyes
🔸 bone deformities
🔸 learning disabilities
🔸 larger than average head size
🔸 short stature

Neurofibromatosis 2 : Symptoms (Less common)
🔸Diagnosed in the late teens and early adult years.
Gradual hearing loss
Ringing in the ears
Poor balance
Facial drop
Numbness and Weakness in the arms or legs
Pain
Balance difficulties
