Who Found New Jersey

  • New Jersey was founded by Lord Berkeley and Sir George in 1664.
  • It was named after a British island.

Who founded Pennsylvania

  • Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1787.
  • They got Pennsylvania name from Williams last name.
  • He had 12 Children 7 Boys 5 Girls

History of New Jersey

  • In 1664 the British take control of New Jersey from the Dutch.
  • In 1676 the New Jersey colony is divided into East Jersey and West Jersey.
  • New Jersey is a middle colony.
  • In 1702 East and West Jersey combined into one colony.

History

  • Pennsylvania was a middle colony.
  • There were wars that had happened in 1758 it took 17 years for it to stop.
  • That is where the Independence Hall has been for over 2000 years ago.

Economy of New Jersey

  • They had fertile soil and land that was suited for farming.
  • They grew rice, grain, wheat, indigo [dye], and corn.
  • They also trade livestock including beef and pork.

Economy

  • Some of the crops that they liked to grow back then were Greens, Mushrooms, corn, grain, hay, wheats, oats, veggies, and fruits.
  • Livestocks were Milk, beef, chicken eggs, hogs, and some turkeys.(livestocks are what describes animals that we can use to get us food.)

Religion of New Jersey

  • They don't have a specific religion so that gave away religious freedom for Quakers, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, and others.
Quaker: a religious belief that truth is continuously revealed by god.
Catholicism shares some beliefs with other Christian practices, but essential Catholic beliefs include: the Bible, Baptism, God's Ten Commandments, and Holy Trinity.
Lutherans believe that humans are saved from their sins by God's grace alone through faith alone, on the basis of scripture alone.

Religion

  • Quakers-A Christian movement founded by George Fox.
  • William Penn wanted a place of refuge for all religions, but mainly for the English Quakers.

Geography of New Jersey

  • Lowlands, swamps, and white sand beaches, border most of New Jersey.
  • From there it it has a few rolling hills
  • The Pine Barrens also called the Pine Lands which is a area of forests, marches, and swamps.

  • Pennsylvania has a diverse terrien- wide stretches of farmland, national forest and mountains.
  • Philadelphia, PA displays rich history in the Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence is, Liberty Bell is, and the Symbol of American Freedom is.

  • New Jersey has the tallest water slide in the world.
  • The state bug is the honey bee.
  • A city in New Jersey called Atlantic City is were the streets in the game of monopoly.

Fun Facts about Pennsylvania

  • The land that became Pennsylvania Colony had before been land to the English, Dutch, Swedes.
  • The Pennsylvania colony had also been called Province of Pennsylvania.

Why Come to New Jersey?

  • They have a lot of mountains that you can climb there.
  • They have a bunch of white sand beaches that you can still go to.

  • You could go see the Liberty Bell and the Declaration of Independence.
